Skill Points

On my archer build, I've added 64 skill points to both agility and intelligence, but now when I add more skill points, it doesn't show the value going above 64. Are my skills still increasing, it just doesn't show it?

 

Your skill points are still increasing, and this can be viewed by hovering over the stats in your compass. It simply displays 64 "books" because that is the max minecraft can technically show. The actual soft cap for skill points is 100 (in that you can't add more than 100 skill points to a single skill manually), and the hard cap is 150 (boosts from gear can push you past the soft cap, but nothing happens after you get above 150).
