I've been wondering what it mean when it says duration effect? For food does it mean I can eat it once and gain health over time like scrolls/potions, but it has a longer cooldown? So how are scrolls, foods, and potions balanced healthwise?

Consumables' duration means how long their effects last. E. g. if you have a scroll which heals you and has a duration of 3 seconds, then you will get the third of the amount it heals every second times three. If the consumable has other ID-s, doesn't heal you and has a duration of let's say, 10 minutes, then you will have the boosts it gives for 10 minutes. There is no cooldown between consumables. However if you have two of them from the same "tier" (2 scrolls e. g.), and they share ID boosts, then only one of them will be be applied in regards of that specific ID.

When crafting food/scrolls/potions, if you don't use any ingredients, the item will just give health. If you do use ingredients, the item will give a boost on the identifications used for the ingredients rather than give back health. How long you get that boost for depends on the ingredients and the tier of the materials used.

This is a lvl 1-3 potion with no ingredients used. It just gives health back.

This is a lvl 1-3 potion using just one royal cake slice as an ingredient. It gives 6-8 health regen and 8-10% walk speed, but doesn't give the 34-46 health anymore.

The royal cake slice gives -110s Duration, so the base duration for a lvl 1-3 potion using T3 materials (oil + grains with 3 stars behind them) is 1 minute and 50 seconds longer than the duration of this potion.

When you look at the health they give at base and when you look at the power of the ingredients, the general rule would be that the effect of potions is more powerful than that of scrolls and food.

The balance lies in the fact that when you use a scroll, it also effects everyone around you and when you use food, it usually lasts a lot longer.

For example, early on you can find some lucky spider eggs. A great ingredient for leveling, but it only works for potions. The closest thing you can get to the lucky spider egg for cooking would be Dried Gill.

14.5 minutes of 60-72% loot and xp bonus

or 40.5 minutes of 48-60% xp bonus and 30-48% loot bonus.
