Media Sans Challenge

hey kids! do you wanna have a.... bad time?


now introducing... the sans challenge! try to beat the panic zealot boss... while dressed as sans (and using sans)!

requirements

• you must use the "Sans" level 85 unique dagger at all times.
• the use of the defense skill point is not allowed, including bonuses from gear. if sans dies in one hit in a fight, so should you. you may, however, use agility as much as you want.
  • when assigning skill points, you may drop spare/bonus skill points into any skill except defense.
• the build only needs to look like sans. . . that means blue chestplate, black leggings, and pink boots. diamond chestplates do not count. . . glitched dyed items, alternative texture packs, and clientside-rendering bugs are not allowed.
  • armor choices are up to you, as long as they follow the guidelines above. hppeng and i recommend:

  • powdering is up to you. . . i'd recommend earth powders to get rage and get better damage.
  • accessories are completely up to you. skill point glitching and force-wearing accessories is not allowed.
• bonus: use a victim's skull or pig's skull as a helmet. . . you will need to fill your inventory first and force the item to fit in the helmet slot (please don't ban me mods this is for a challenge and provides no material advantage in-game whatsoever)
• bonus 2: switch main hand to left. . .(options >> skin customization >> main hand)
• bonus 3: have "on days like these" by corpe_ playing during the fight

restrictions

• no combat tomes (weapon & armor).
• no consumables.
• no teammates.
• no using another weapon during the fight for extra sustain, utility (WS, MR), etc. . . sans at all times

is this doable?
yes! just now, @hppeng has soloed panic zealot doing the sans challenge. . . however, hppeng was using a 5% weapon tome, which disqualifies him. . . the run itself is still certainly proof of concept and feasibility, though.

Suggestion: You have to focus all of your skillpoints and accessories into agility for an immensely high chance of dodging. You also need a lot of attack speed. A lot of it. That way it's accurate.

 

I'd like to keep it relatively open, and if people want to have a higher chance of dying by having low agility, I'm up for that. No-hit gaming as sans would be cool to see.

I don't think super-fast attack speed is a necessity. In fact, when AIn members were trying the challenge, we would aim for super slow attack speed for a few reasons. One, slow attack means higher mana steal chance (which is especially important as an assassin). Two, melee was not the main source of damage, not even close. We'd use multihit and smokebomb for primary damage, with melee only to do some knockback (again, superslow is better than faster speeds here) and to get mana steal. Additionally, I would say doing combat with lots of vanish + multihit is closer to Sans's fighting style than superfast melee. Multihit hits much faster than superfast melee and having to time your multihit/smoke combos means the fight plays out like a turn-based Undertale fight, with the player dealing rapid and hard hits in bursts and skillfully dodging near-certain death until another opportunity to attack arises.

With that said, if you want to use fast melee on the sans build, go ahead! I think it would definitely be more challenging than using lots of vanish/multihit/smoke.

 

How about your accessories can only be poison or agility accessories?

 

I feel like there’s a really cool major id that could be made here. Probably as a set bonus.
