Art Sand Dunes

I'm a beginner at pixel art, but I really wanted to make some terrain. =) So here is my version of some sand dunes with sandstone rock formations far behind it. Decided against vegetation because it looked odd when I experimented with it. Heavily inspired by Starbound, but not copied pixel for pixel obv =P

Anyways, enjoy! (If you're amazing at pixel art, please give tips >.<)
It's suppose to look foggy bc of sand ;)

That looks really cool! You executed the 3D effect very well, wouldn't mind seeing more!

 

It looks pretty good! One obvious thing is that there should really be a more evident light source. It's the desert, and we all know how bright and hot it is, so there needs to be come kind of highlight on the sand.

Take a look at this for example:

See how the light and shadow side have extremely heavy contrast? You need some darker shadows.
