I haven't been invested into wynn since a bit after the corkus update and I was wondering if there was any advice into getting into this whole weapon crafting/trade market/dern/shaman thing. I'm gonna start a new shaman class today, and any tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Professions (gathering and crafting) are completely optional and require hundreds of hours to max out. The benefit of dedicating your time into professions (you'll usually do 2 gathering and 1-2 crafting professions at once) is that the items you craft (with the right ingredients and recipes to provide good stats) can be powerful consumables (food, potions, and scrolls) that can be useful for guild wars or lootrunning, or powerful gear (weapons, armor) that, when made properly, can result in items more powerful than non-crafted gear (though crafteds take lots of time to acquire due to rare ingredients, and they also need to be repaired constantly).

The trade market is a simpler topic. Players can put their items up on the trade market for a price, and other players can buy those items with emeralds. There are also a few other features on the right side of the trade market GUI, but I think you can explore those yourself.

Dern hasn't been released yet - rather, it is an area that has been taken over by Dern, called the Silent Expanse. Containing high level quests, secret discoveries, a very tough dungeon, and one gloomy city, the Silent Expanse is an interesting place to explore (it also has good grind spots and lootrunning).

If you want to learn more about Shaman, browse forums and/or check out this wiki page: https://wynncraft.gamepedia.com/Shaman.
