Question On Sky Snails

So I recently came across the sky snail village thing today.

I fought one and during the fight I saw a few emeralds fly out. I assumed I broke some flower pot or something.

And then later I rounded up a huge number and attacked them all at once from a safe spot and almost every time I attacked an emerald or two flew off.

Are sky snails supposed to create emeralds upon getting hit? If so, why?

 

That would be the Stealing ID.

 

Try hitting other mobs. It's likely due to you having a large quantity of the Stealing identification.

Stealing is the percent chance that a mob will drop an emerald upon being hit. Stealing can only activate up to five times per mob (to prevent emerald farming off of a villager or something).

Ok.

I thought loot bonus increased item drops and stealing increased emerald drop. I'd did not know it gave emeralds upon hitting a mob.

What equipment are you using, actually? I've never heard of someone having that much Stealing; the most I've seen on one piece of equipment is 13%, and that's rare.

 

I'll tell you when I have the chance to check. I recently got a new chest plate, so that could be it

May I ask where the sky snails are?

 

No idea. I was just wandering the sky islands and I found them. I saw bees flying in the air and went over, and then I saw th snails

I guess it seemed like a lot when I had a hella ton all in one place
