Quest is bugged need help

I'm doing the canyon condor quest and I defeat the cockatrice and I pick up the egg, but it won't register that I pick up the egg. I've talk to svin with the egg in my inventory and he takes it but then just ask for the egg over and over Also I have tried quitting and rejoining but that doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any advice
