Quest: Hunger of the Gerts Part 1 won't let me into main village

Hello, I am new to the Wynncraft forums and was hoping for some advice on how to address this issue.

I am in the middle of the Hunger of the Gerts Part 1 quest, and there is a point in which you have to correctly carve a Hungry pattern into a pumpkin in order to pass as a Gert. I succeeded in this, and everything went fine until I got to the part in the quest where you're meant to Enter the secret Gert tunnel. When I attempt to enter the Gert village, the guard alerts me that I do not "look like a Gert" and I am eaten.

I am wearing the correct mask, and I've looked at the step by step wiki page as well as watching an online tutorial. I've done all of the steps correctly - is there something I'm missing? I've tried logging back off and on again, turning off my hat skin(which didn't work, though I don't imagine that's the issue), and I'm stuck on where to go from here. If anyone can help I'd be grateful.
