Quest Guides

I know Olinus10 has a series of "quest guides" on his channel, but his guides are more accurately a walkthrough where he just plays the quest whilst telling us what he is doing.

This got me thinking, would people be interested in quest guides using a proper guide format rather than being a walkthrough?

 

What would this format be like? Keep in mind that the wiki also has full text guides for all the quests.

 

The wiki text guides are very barebones and are IMO confusing just as often as they are helpful.

The format of my guides would have me doing a scripted voiceover of the steps of the quest in detail with an accompanying video showing it. Instead of reading off the quest dialogue I would provide a summary of the events taking place(often times throwing in some commentary on the events taking place). I would outline the requirement(s) for the quest, recommendations for completion, and an analysis of the quest's reward.

 

Alright, seems interesting. And I mean, if the wiki texts seem bad, you're always free to improve them.

 

If you think they can be improved just tell us how and we can try. Or, as Emolga3 said, you can do it yourself.

 

I was planning to at some point, but I figured I could alternatively focus my efforts into making video guides.

I will certainly look into doing it myself on the pages that I feel cause confusion.

 

I love your channel but I don't see a reason for you to do so. if it's easy content to make then why not

 

I'm actually working on improving all old quest pages right now, so if you have any general recommendations for how they could be made clearer I'd be happy to try to implement them as I go through. Alternatively, as said before, you could always try and do it yourself if you want.

 

It's simple but very time consuming to script and edit a guide this way, and that gets worse the longer it is. But as I am generally building my channel around a mix of let's play and educational content I feel quest guides could be a nice addition.

Pictures would be a wonderful help. Almost none of the quest pages have pictures at all and so when you have to find something sometimes you struggle to do so because you dont know what you are supposed to be looking for.

 

I have been adding NPC and mob images, although not location images. I'll look into adding those as well, I get your point that it can be confusing to not get to actually see what you're being directed towards. Thanks for the feedback!
