Quartz Charger not working

In the quest Rise of the Quartron, there is a part where you charge the quartz, then have a 16 second timer to run back down and right click the door with the quartz.

I tried right clicking the charger but nothing happened. I assumed it was because of the right click bug (1.20 just released) so I left but now I'm lvl 100 coming back to finish everything before going to SE. I tried it again and it doesn't work. I tried entering the mansion from behind the painting and fighting the guards, and it doesn't work. The machine isn't active and doesn't have any green particles. Is there a way to "enable" the machine? because right now it doesn't work.

(/class, /lobby, restarting mc all don't work)
