Media Purchasing Shouts For Ingame Items

I understand that rule 13 prohibits -


13. Buying in-game items.
(Using real life money to purchase something in-game from another player, includes selling/buying store items for items in-game.)

I'd like to question this.
First off, there are a few technicalities:

1: Gifting. The rule gives no attention to gifting, so it is technically legal to 'gift' a player a shout. The receiver could then 'gift' an ingame item as a show of 'gratitude.'

2: selling/buying - The rule makes no mention of items that have already been bought - or shouts. Furthermore, if you have already bought an item, isn't it your property?


Nextly, why can't we buy shouts from other players? I understand that buying ranks for ingame items may be over the top, but sometimes, some people just dont have access to a credit card.
What if you wanted to advertise an item you were selling? Or invite people to a dungeon bomb?

Selling store packages for ingame items is illegal regardless of if you've already bought it. A better way to word it would be:
Trading anything or offering to use anything of monetary value for ingame items is illegal.
Saying both the store item and ingame item were "gifts" will not be accepted as an excuse. Do not give players ingame items as thanks for a bomb or shout.

Edit: Shouts are not an exception to these rules even if they cost less than ranks.

I do see people shout on behalf of others all the time. You know:

Player1 (WC3) shouts: Player2 is selling a Cataclysm! Message him for details.

I don't know, would it be against the rules to do that for ingame items? I'm assuming it would...

Yes, it is against the rules to do that for an in-game item (singular or plural).
