As you guys know you can only charge up your powder ability only with melee. But I use a spell spam build so basically while im using my melee to charge it for 5~10 seconds I really feel like Im losing a ton of damage that time. How do you guys think?

i mean if you wanna go full nerd and listen to the math, then here you go.

if it takes 5 seconds to charge your ability

and the ability lasts 10 seconds (say you're using curse or courage)
and the ability affect is multiplying your damage by 3x

then yes, it is worth it. affectively you are doing 30 seconds worth of damage ((15-5) x 3) in only 15 seconds real time.

obviously i don't know the full affects of the powder abilities, so i kinda half guessed the stats. this statement above is also assuming you do 0 damage using melee (unlikely). If you deal actual damage using melee then the powder affect becomes even more affective.

edit: if you are using something like the wind prison special or the thunder special then you should probably not use it at all.

the earth quake is pretty good tho

Curse and Courage are worth using for the sweet damage boosts

Wind Prison is useful in a pinch of you need to knock the enemy away from you

Quake is good in a melee build

Chain Lightning is okay for a mana/life steal build, but useless otherwise

    wow
everyone sorta shits on chain lightning i guess

its really good for poison builds and also stinger builds, surprisingly

sadly because of what it's good for, it doesnt see much use in pvb

I play my mage using spellspam, and boy, curse I see handy. During a boss fight, it really helps with increasing damage against the boss. And chances are if you are spellspam you are going to have mana steal and melee anyway to get your mana up, so you recharge your ability at the same time
