okay so i've been considering making a poison build, and was wondering how it worked exactly. i understand that if it says 10k/3s then it'll do 10k dmg within 3 tics, but how does it work with elemental dmg? for example, if i have a build that does 0 neutral dmg (only elemental dmg) but says it'll do 34k/3s poison dmg, will it do 34k no matter what? will it do less than that or none at all? help

also, if there's anything i should know about poison builds let me know!

(idk if i should put this in class building section or the questions section oops)

Whenever you hit a target with that 10k/3 poison damage it will take the damage of the weapon's initial hit then after will take 10,000/3 so 3,333 damage per poison tick for the next 3 seconds. Poison damage also deals neutral damage so it goes through the defense/agility stat also it goes through elemental defenses so it will always deal the 3,333 regardless

Another thing to note is that strength directly buffs poison damage dealt. If I'm not wrong, assuming you have 10k poison and 150 strength (80.8%) you'll deal 18,080/3 poison damage despite only having 10k poison. Also things like courage and curse affect poison. It's extremely op if you use them right.

As for the poison build things to know there's a few nuances one should be aware of if you wanted to go fully into a heavy poison build especially in multiplayer environments like raids/LI/dungeon run parties. Be weary of other people with any amount of poison in their build if you want to use yours to its fullest potential.

The questions section is a good place for this.

Poison does NOT work with elemental damage, it also doesn't work with melee/spell damage%.
There are three things which do increase the damage: your strength skill points and the courage (fire) and curse (water) powder specials. I personally prefer curse for the higher damage, but courage can be used on more enemies at the same time.

It should be noted that poison also procs from spells, not just from melee hits. Even if the spells do no damage (i.e. when using necrosis, the highest poison helmet)
poison rounds up after the decimal, so 10k/3s poison would actually give 3,334 damage each tick which barely matters but is cool to know.

As for builds, if you're not at end game it can be quite hard to get a good build that only does poison damage. I like pairing it with some heavy melee items (items with powerful melee bonusses but negative attack speed) because they're often strength focused and you don't need to hit someone non-stop to make use of poison.
