    I go pies because they can be made savory or sweet, and cake is only ever sweet.

    cake is not necessary sweet, depends on what the cake is made of. You can still make a cheese cake, lemon cake, etc, without giving too much suger.

    But I love pie more, because I can hold it with my hands, and the base is crispy :)
