Overdrive???

whats goin on
the weapon overdrive seems to be an insane weapon, but whenever I use it in a build it seems so bad in comparison to what the stats say like +1500% spell dam and +9 attack speed.

how is this item bad in build it literally has no major flaws someone explain

• water damage (perfect for a spell build)

With this little scoundrel in a build on its own it reaches like 7.8k aura, which is just as good as most people's shaman builds. This would make you think its a godly item, maybe even a mythic?

No matter what spell damage increasing items or water damage boosting gear I use, its always bad. And I don't know why.

Spell damage calculations are based off of a weapon's base damage, not accounting for +tier. Super Slow is a 0.51 multiplier. Here's a full list.

Super Fast: 4.3
Very Fast: 3.1
Fast: 2.5
Normal: 2.05
Slow: 1.5
Very Slow: 0.83
Super Slow: 0.51

This also doubles as attacks per second

 

To further explain what this person on top just said, spell damage is calculated by mutliplying the base damage * attack speed. This means that overdrive has an INSANELY low base for a shaman weapon when there are items like procrastination with almost 10x the base or more. The idea is that this is a gimmick weapon which still has a pretty large sum of dmg in which case the items IDs compensate for its insanely low base. The raw spell is insanely good though and it makes up for alot of the weapons aura damage.

 

As for the +9 attack speed thing, it has extremely low base damage (as has been stated and explained above), so using it on it's own it's gonna suck. But if you use items to cancel the attack speed and add damage to it, you get ridiculous melee dps.

(This is just for example purposes, this build is just like the first result I could find for an overdrive cancelstack, so it's prolly not amazing, and also it's gonna be nerfed)

EDIT:
Also, attack speed tops out at Super Fast attack speed, and it only takes 6 tiers to take a super slow weapon to super fast. So if you were expecting it to attack faster than a super fast attack speed weapon, that's why it doesn't.
