    if you are tracking a quest, it will tell you in chat the information when you select the 8th slot (the questbook) in your hotbar


    also any version > 1.8, but some time ago they said 1.8 support would be terminated soon

    When I'm holding the quest boook ,it just says tracking in the chat and doesn't tell me anything else. hOW AM I supposed to know where to find milk & eggs?

    Tracking should show you the current objective, so you don't have to go through your quest book every time. Milk can be bought from a merchant, and eggs are dropped by chickens, both can be found in Katoa Ranch (very close to the Decrepit Sewers dungeon).
