New Chat Not Working?

I tried doing a quest for the first time since the Fruma update, but it just shows up as black boxes instead of the actual chat box that I've seen in videos. Is there any fix to this? Also it does not seems to be conflicting texture packs, I tried disabling all of the other ones I have but nothing changed.
