Please watch the video before commenting.

I'm going to make this quick, but basically, corporate shitholes are yet again attempting to abolish Net Neutrality, likely expunging a good part of what we love about the Internet.

I would go into full detail about this, but there are sources that explain it much better than I could, that, and I don't have the time right now.

    https://www.battleforthenet.com/

I'm sure many people here have already heard about it, I made this thread mainly to spread the news further, everything counts.

Spread the news to any friends/family members who aren't familiar with this topic and how it affects them.

    Have a nice day.

It will affect the internet for everyone indirectly. Sites like Reddit and YouTube couldn't have started without the net neutral environment in the US that allows small groups of people with a good idea the chance to make a successful website. Without it, it would be hard or impossible for startups like that to continue.

Wrong, though it will have the largest impact there. Wherever you are, browsing the internet is going to become a lot worse if this goes through.

Must be bad is PornHub is going against it, right?

I can't believe the U.S. Government is even THINKING about repealing Net Neutrality. Why can't we just have money without excessive greed that threatens to screw everyone over for once at any point in history? Is that really so hard?

At this point, the most significant problem is that the people in charge of the country appear to be in favor of an entirely free economy, meaning they oppose net neutrality. Congress is currently controlled by the right-wing, who support more economic freedoms, and the Trump Administration is composed more-or-less entirely of people who believe the government shouldn't even TOUCH the market. Hate to say it, but it's quite possible that this could happen.

Protesting will, however, decrease the odds of Net Neutrality being repealed, and we need to minimize the chance of it being repealed.

I know it will effect websites that are based in the US, but couldn't those websites just move to Europe/Asia?
That way it will only effect the US

I was just going to make a thread on this because when I first saw this today it made me furious! These greedy ISPs want to take away the one network everyone depends on. There's only one internet.
If you haven't please join the protest, all you have to do is make a comment on the FCC website.
Here's another helpful website with a video and a link to another article on how you should make an effective protest comment: https://netneutrality.internetassociation.org/action/

Just because it's not affecting you right now, doesn't mean it never will. Sure, you don't live in the U.S., and yeah, maybe websites can move to other regions. But, like Juiced said, and how applications like Discord and Netflix broadcasted today, they would have never existed without the support on a free internet in the U.S.
Furthermore, if we (including you) allow Net Neutrality to die in America, that's a huge red flag it could happen in any other country as well.

Should we give away our freedoms to spend money to a greedy comoney just for internet?

Should we support the majority or the minority?

Should we support the side that has more benefits or the side that has less benefits?

We should support net neutrality for the sake of our money, internet, and freedom(tm). We should not buy freedom from other companies, hell this goes against freedom of speech. We should not let ISPs take away internet freedom from us. This goes against what 'Murica was built out of. Why take away a core ideal the U.S. has been based for for more than 200 years?

Get everyone you know informed about the issue and why they should care about it. The more people against it anywhere the better.
