Archer/Hunter My Official Grandmother Build

Alright.

After lots of doubt, I've decided to post my grandmother build, the one I am officially using and planning to keep for the long run. Figuring that class builds are not something that should be kept secret, I thought that it would be fun to post the formula I use for my hunter. This is the first class build that I like enough to consider permanently keeping, and I believe that it is a very good alternative to those who cannot afford something like Spring or Stratiformis.

So, here goes...

But, before we start, I want to point out some basic facts about this build that you should know before attempting to recreate this formula:

+ It is a glass cannon. It is not meant to soak up damage like a warrior tanker, neither is it supposed to be a close-range attacker. For best use, consider it like a sniper build: Don't get too close!

+ For offensive purposes, however, this build is great and suits most people's needs. With fully activated rage, your average bomb will be 26k. Without, it will be around 11k. Also, your mana should be 4/4 and your intelligence around 60, based on the quality of your items.

+ This build works best with Grandmother. Hive bow CAN be used, but there is a reason as to why I chose grandmother for the main weapon (I will explain in the Statistics spoiler).

+ Oh, and if you like explosions, then this is for you :P.

Spoiler: The Build!

So, first things first, you need armor.

1) Shawl of Gaea

Shawl is mainly for damage purposes. The high earth damage combined with the strength makes it an incredible helmet for this type of build. Oh, and the exploding helps when dealing with crowd control.

2) Terra's Mold

Obvious choice. Decent earth damage. Useful until Salted creates another chestplate with higher earth dmg >.>

3) Earth Sanctuary

Surely you must have seen this one coming!

4) Seismosoul

The Earth dmg and the strength make this pair of boots the prime choice for this type of build!


Assuming you have all the armour pieces, we then move on to accessories.

1 & 2) Concentration

You will need 2 2/4 concentrations. A little costly, but the 4/4 mana regen is essential so that the mana of this build is not unbearable.

3) Morph Amethyst

This is an item that I chose for the skill points. I'm sure that there are better alternatives, but for now, this will do.

4) Shatterglass

High strength, a little more exploding, and some earth dmg for the final accessory!


Now that you finally have all the jewelry and the clothing you need, all you require is 2 things: The most essential parts of the build.

1) Grandmother (duh)

So, the most entertaining part of this build is that it won't kill you if your hp regen is worse or better. I have -288 hp regen and it works fine. I would prefer a slower hp regen, but I doubt that a worse one will have any different impact.

2) Comrade

This bow can be bought at the rodoroc merchant for 5LE (a little pricey, ik.) There are alternatives, such as The Hearth (I think that's the name) and if you're willing to sacrifice intel, Ignis. However, I personally wouldn't use ignis because the intel is really major in this build.

Alright, so, if you've gotten all the pieces to create this build, the fun part is putting it together, as I will show in the next spoiler below

Spoiler: Puttin' it together!

So, I often put my builds together in a very specific way. Most advanced players should know how to put together a proper endgame build, but just in case you don't know, I will list all the steps below on how to do it. If you know how to put together the build, don't bother reading this and skip to the next spoiler.

1) Reset all your skill points (duh) and immediately start by putting on the 2 concentrations.
2) Put 8SP in EACH individual stat and put on Morph Amethyst.
3) Now look at your shatterglass. Based on the amount of negative defense it has, you will add in that stat. (i.e. My shatterglass has -6 def. So, I will then add another 6 to my defense stat.)
4) Increase your strength to 50, then put on shatterglass. if you did the previous step correctly, you should put on shatterglass and your morph amethyst WILL NOT come off.
5) Increase your str to 60 and put on Terra's Mold.
6) Now increase your intel to 20 and put on Seismosoul.
7) Increase your strength to 70 and put on Earth Sanctuary.
8) Now, Increase your defense to 50, put on Shawl of Gaea.
9) Now increase your strength to 100 so you can use Grandmother.
10) To wrap it up at #10, put EVERYTHING ELSE on Intelligence.

These steps should give you the best method to being able to make the most out of your Skill points so you can have the most intel. If you are using Comrade as your secondary, you won't need to allocate more defense. However, other hp regen bows may require extra defense.

So, if you have been following along up until now, the next spoiler shows the results of what you get from this build (with similar or better items compared to mine). For those who are just reading this, the next part is the best part for you!

Spoiler: Statistics!

These are the ids that I get with my completed build. I know that spell dmg % is sad, but that doesn't really hinder the damage on this build.

So, for damage, here is what you get at certain levels of hp if you have full rage and all t6's on Grandmother.

Along with the 4/4 mana and 60 intel, this should satisfy most desires for completely mind-shattering non-cataclysm-based damage.

So, in the beginning of the post, I recommended the bow to be Grandmother. The reason? The negative hp regen. Yes, the one thing that repels most people from the bow is the reason why I recommend it. I know it sounds rather peculiar, but the negative hp regen helps to trigger the rage of the bow. And, if you're using this class as more of a sniper sort of build like I recommended rather than a close up combat boii, it's actually quite fun to run around in Qira's boss room with 1hp pelting the mistress with bombs. Of course, at 1hp you can be oneshotted by the lvl 13 suckers outside of detlas, so I don't recommend letting your hp drop too low on most circumstances. But for duels, why not trigger rage pre-battle?

Many people have a different playstyle, and prefer different stats over others. Me? I like my hunter to be a complete glass cannon.

 

This I really like, since it is creative AND practical, since you don't waste items on reducing negative regen and it boosts your damage.
