Well, first off I think you should put more effort on the background, as well, is nule. Then the structure of the farm should be... more realistic, but is a good start! Also the redstone is better to hide it underground

I would hide the redstone. Other than that, I think this could be a cool home for a quest NPC.

 

I would say keep it compact and detailed, it gives it more creative appeal in my opinion.

its not a real redstone just to make it look like a piston door in real life or something , its just for detail
