My Grudge Against People Not Reading Dialogue

For some reason, people not reading dialogue makes me get mad. For one, Wynncraft isn't really 'Wynncraft' without all the lore and dialogue. And man, if you go through levels 1-101 without reading the dialogue, you're going to be bored and confused af. Don't get triggered by this. Please don't get offended by this. all I'm saying is that people should really read the dialogue. Game makers went through a ton of trouble making the lore. This isn't in Wynncraft because idk where to put it.

honestly i agree with you, i find it dumb why people play these games that are so immersive and lore heavy but people just ignore all the world building and story telling
however, i have to admit there is a lotta dialogue so when ur on ur second or third or fourth play through reading all the dialogue over and over does get tedious xD
i always read it the first time round tho lol

 

i havent readed a single dialog in wynncraft and i have 4 101's

oh and most of the people i used to play with didnt give a fuck about lore either

Because RPGs aren't necessary about dialogue. To me, it's all about grinding, increasing skill and player interaction. I couldn't care less about story, I just want to grind. I read enough text during finals.

Rpg stand for "role playing".
It's not a story driven thing. Role playing was designed for you to chose your own path, to dictate how you want to play the game, to chose styles of how you want to finish the game. Water archer with no health regen and intel build is *role playing*. Just like the name suggest, it's how you chose your role in the game, and dialogues have nothing to do with that.
Dialogue are present in almost every game, therefore it's not RPG exclusive.

 

theres a difference between playstyle and roleplaying. when your playing as a glassy water archer, that’s your playstyle, but your not roleplaying said archer. your roleplaying a recruit from fruma. the game is about your journey through the realm of wynncraft. while you can focus on things like trading or interacting with others and stuff, its not the main intention of the game. while there is “dialogue” in most games, something like “flashbang!” or “laying down smoke!” is barely comparable to the level of dialogue in wynn (or any rpg)

If what you said was the case, then until dawn would be role playing, walking dead would be roleplaying, nfs would be roleplaying. Each character has a back story and a purpose.
RPG games have certain mechanics that label them as RPG games, dialogue and story has nothing to do with that.
Yes, you are a recruit from fruma that chose his journey as water archer. That's role playing, recruit from fruma is a backstory.

Now you are using reductio ad absurdum.
You don't need to take my word for it, google RPG games and tell me which pop up. What they all have in common is huge opportunity to customize your character and playstyle. They have skill trees, grinding, character stats and what not. That's what makes an RPG game, an RPG, not a story.

 

Wynncraft has dialogue? Since when?
