Minimap Question

I read somewhere that minimaps are only allowed as a waypoint system, and nothing else.
I assume by "waypoint system" they mean placing waypoints on the map to make reaching one's destination easier, not unlike pins in Breath of the Wild. Would that be allowed?

I was also wondering if I could use a minimap such as JourneyMap or MapWriter 2 that loads in the map as you load in the chunks, so long as I disable anything that would give me an unfair advantage (player radar, entity radar, etc.). This would be helpful to see where I have and haven't been.

I'm simply asking if these two things would be allowed or not.

You can use minimaps as long as you have entity radar and cave maps disabled.
