Meaning Of Nona?

Ye wynn is good at throwing random name to items. (At least they making item related to its name)

there was a hurricane a while ago called nona, but i doubt that is related.

 

Pretty sure it's latin for "ninth", not sure how that's related to the actual dagger though.

 

It means nine, hence nonagon
don't know why they named it that though

 

Nona in Greek (νονά) means godmother.
Still doesn't make sense.

 

Well, it makes more sense than the other definitions, with Adamastor guarding over Urdar and whatnot.

Nona in my language means grandmother, or aunt; someone that raised you as a kid, usually an older, female character.

It, along with Eidolon, Dondasch, Adamastor, and Urdar are all a reference to something. Find the thing they're referenced in and you'll find your source.

it appears that nona is a gas giant in the game of civ2

Indeed.

Nona is a gas giant that was once inhabited by the Ha'Gibborim civilization of the Lalande 21185 system. Some unknown disaster happened, and they were mostly wiped out. Their greatest city, Eidolon, sank under the clouds of Nona from the orbital platforms, and was lost along with all the riches and technology obtained there.

Then, the human and alien factions accidentally open a stargate.

They are sent into a mass wreckage, being scattered across the earth-like planet of Funestis. Their aim is to rebuild their technology from scratch and eventually gain the stargate technology to return home. Alternately, to dominate the system in order to procure the resources to eventually discover it, or rebuild their starship and make the trip manually.

When you gain technology sufficient to reach Nona however...that's when the problems arise. The ancient defense mechanisms of the Ha'Gibborim rise up and begin to attack all civilizations without mercy or regard for alliance. Defeating them gives you access to pieces of stargate technologies.

Those units, in order of strength and importance, are the Adamastors, the Urdars, and the Dondasch.

Adamastors are in essence, giant ring-like mechanisms with a fulminate plasma "bubble" in the middle.

Urdars are what look like massive floating crystals, the size of a city, that rain down static lightning.

Those two roam around and can swap between the available worlds of Nona, Naumachia, the Funesti Orbital Platforms, and Funestis itself and ravage your cities, while the Dondasch is the technological lynchpin for stargate synthesis and can never leave the orbital platforms of Nona.


In terms of their story as compared to our Adamastor's, there's absolutely zero relation. I just thought it'd be fun to make names that hardly anyone would get.

 

Huh. I always thought it was Eidolon as in a Greek mythological possessing spirit.
