Make Prof levels shared across all classes

“But Purple what about classes who have profs leveled up between different classes”

    Combine their xp count

“But Purple what if all of them are maxxed”

Then make the final amount maxxed

“But Purple what about the time wasted for players who have been maxxing out prof levels in several classes. You know, level 132? Think of the tryhards!!!”

    Lol

“But Purple what about the insane timesink and playtime potential that profs give? This feature helps greatly in maintaining player retention! Think of the game!!!”

    Lmao

In unrelated news quick word of advice, if you just so happened to time travel into the past pre-2.0 tell Purple that they shouldn’t level up all their prof levels to endgame on an Assassin just because it’s the most op class at the moment

    Ok that’s all bye

Imo its fine but i think other leaderboards should be a bit more clear on what exactly they imply and also there could be more leaderboards unrelated to profs lol

Professions right now are where Combat Levels were before 1.9. Or rather where they were before the ideas introduced in 1.9 were made good. Profs are nothing but grindfests, that's their issue.

I'm not saying to add the same kind of number and density of quests and activities that combat activities have. That's way too much overhead. Even a quest every ten crafting prof levels (1-100) in five pools (weaponsmithing/woodworking, armoring/tailoring, alchemy/scribing, jeweling, cooking) is asking for, what, 50 profession-based quests? That's several major updates' worth of content in a row to implement and then another couple major updates to actually make decent, all for content that large chunks of your playerbase will miss.

That's literally fine, the mood / scope / replayability manifested by missable content is half the point. In terms of overhead, something like a trial with a single theoretical pool (cooking? the weapon profs?) would be a lot more feasible to ship. In the aims of reducing overhead even further, you could cut the number of (main? initial?) quests in half and/or add something like a rotating profession bounty system in a couple of major cities. Just not from silverbull. Please stop using the silverbull company for everything.

tl;dr profs suck because they have no content. the solution to this is conceptually easy and manifestly difficult: give them content. Updating profs so that there's even less of them doesn't solve any underlying issues. All it does is take the foundations of a neat system and strangle them in the cradle.

I once tried to write out miniquests for every level block. They were just a couple lines of concept, and in-game they would be a single 'talk to person, craft item, talk again, optionally one more talk for additional lore', no complexity in the stages. I only managed to get through like 5 of the profs. 6. I'm not sure.

It would be an awful lot of work.
