Losing Hardcore Icon

I have been working towards a high level hardcore Ironman account but lost it while running through to a server-side lag spike earlier today. I know there is a no-refund policy with items but all I hope is I can regain my hardcore symbol due to it being out of my hands and I feel I have wasted hours because of this. Is there a way to appeal this? Many thanks.
