Keep Assassin's mid-air Vanish usage in 2.0

    If you couldn't tell yet, the changelog for the upcoming 2.0 update includes various base class changes, including spell level readjustments and spell reworks. One of which is Vanish, being rebranded to Dash and losing its invisibility (for it to be unlocked in a skill tree)

    Sure, I can already see the disagreement in making invisibility for Assassin an unlockable feature, but I can sort of understand with how the tree has to work.

    However, there is a bigger issue at hand:
    To simplify, Assassin loses its ability to fly and you cannot use Vanish/Dash more than once mid-air to go up. Anyone who is familiar enough with the class should already know how incredibly thrilling flying with Vanish is, especially when getting in the rhythm with timing each spell.

    Shortly saying, I want Assassin to keep the ability to fly. The class is already highly rebranded in 2.0 as is, and in my opinion, this only takes away from the experience.

    It’s kinda sad to see that everything about assassin in the changelog are vanish nerfs.

    Have you considered how Dash flying would interact with all of Acrobat's abilities?

    vanish dmg boost should be tripled.

    it would make it even more jumpy, but who wants that when you can be the based shadestepper enjoyer

    Vanish is one of the most useful spells in the games
    Scratch it’s that most useful spell
    The amount of times I’ve skipped levels or quest parts using vanish or just not dying is uncountable.

    Will dash/vanish still give the damage boost? In saya’s post spin has the spell multiplier of post SE vanish/spin changes but not explicitly if the boost still exists. Without the extra boost assassin damage will literally just fall off

    Also maybe vanish to dash thing was warranted? vanish messes so hard with boss ai a lot of the time

    Extremely one-dimensional take when vanish is currently so central to assassin's power that everything about it is balanced around it
    The class has inherently lower spell mults to account for the vanish boost rn

    Of course you'd need to reconstruct vanish from the ground up to make assassin different

    I am more so referring to vanish as a movement spell since the changelog, specifically the base spell section does not mention anything on the combat centered aspect of the spell, i.e. the 80% attack buff. In fact, from the stream we didn't even see the attack buff being part of the spells or upgrades. (I have no idea whether it will)
    Vanished didn't change that much, especially not from the ground up. We see that vanish is not actually archetype bounded, the only change I can see is that (assuming at max upgrade) there is now a cool down on the vanish aspect as well as the extra restriction on the spell that is the topic of this thread.
    I'm not saying the changes with vanish will make assassin weaker, but vanish itself is definitely not as powerful before.

    It absolutely has? Having to invest points to get it + full functionality as current vanish being locked behind going deep in the tree/potentially not achievable. Even though it doesn't have archetype req, it still requires you to invest in a path you wouldn't perhaps go
    And the main point is that you don't get the current functionality outright, and that current vanish is too much of assassin's power budget and needed to be gutted/rebuilt/made a non-constant.

    Feels like you missed the entire point, but maybe the point I was making was too much of a tangent...

    Vanish has been incredibly overpowered for a long time. I don't like the nerf to its actual movement, though.

    yep, that's my point. the combat capabilities can change and i wouldn't mind, assassin is fun regardless. but movement for assassin like vanish flight makes it special

    you should be able to, but can't take off looking down (you can't go up if you don't go forward)

    Honestly I'm pretty sure this was nerfed because it'd be absolutely broken with the Jasmine Bloom ability; if you just spammed dash to fly you'd basically have free damage against melee combatants, and with enough mana regen you'd literally be able to clear bosses without touching the ground

    I doubt vanish fly would be viable anyways tbh. Spell costs are ridiculously high on paper for the new update .--. 20 cost vanish translates to a 4 mana vanish on the live server. From what it looks like the "cheaper X ability" skill reduces mana cost by 5, which still would make it a 3 mana vanish. Also anybody else worried about the 45 cost spins? Salted used vanish spin once for shadestepper and promptly ran out of mana and died in the stream.

    Maybe having flying be an upgrade that acrobats can't access would be a solution, vanish flying is something most people don't really know how to pull off and that takes a lot of practice, as long as acrobats aren't doing it it's not really going to have any impact on combat. However I also am not totally sure how much of an affect it would have on acrobat, in theory the attack that damages stuff underneath you would be the thing being affected, however right not the only way to activate that is with jump boost or something like that which would be an incredibly finnicky thing to do, if you jump and then use dash to get on top of an enemy you now can't use dash to get out, if you use dash to get out you can't really get on top of the enemy with just jumping, so maybe an upgrade that increases the cap to 2 uses of flying for acrobats specifically?
    that's all speculation the update's not even out nor the beta so I'm probably wrong about most of the things I just said, but the thing about allowing it for non-acrobats still stands I think.
