    Inktober 2017

    I decided to participate this year (after finding out about it in November of last year ._.).

    the shadows aren't aligned :c
    I guess I'll be following the official prompt list.

    I will be getting a white pen tomorrow, so hopefully, I'll be able to add some highlights. I'm not sure whether to do this challenge on regular paper or on a midtone paper (where the whites will stand out more).
    @Bubbles I'm doing this too :)

    Hey Polu! Looking good, reminds me of a Tim Burton-esque atmosphere (especially how you crosshatched the shadows).

    Some tips:

    I) Try adding in a single color as an experiment! Monochrome, like what you did, is interesting but can give the impression of being too minimal. If you play with a strong color as an accent, perhaps a red or purple to fit the dark vibes, your shadowing could greatly be enhanced because it invokes a tone in people that you may not have even meant for... which is pretty cool in my opinion!

    II) The natural world appears smaller as it approaches the horizon-line. If you make the foreground trees larger and gradually decrease in size, you could (A) fit more trees and (B) give depth to your work

    III) If you're lost at any point or have an idea that you're not sure how to create from the top of your head, it never hurts to use a reference as long as you're ethical in doing so

    Let me know if you have any questions!

    While I agree with you, I'm trying to do this challenge using only black and white (and gray, I suppose), as that's something that I don't often do.
    plus i dont quite have the shade that I think would be best and it would be quite hard to create such a shade without using watercolor (which I am hesitant to do because it's on printer paper.. and could ruin my desk [or my computer, if I'm not careful]).

    Thanks for the feedback! I'm trying to get better at drawing trees (and other things), so I'll definitely keep your advice in mind... also perspective..
    I probably should have used a reference, but what's done is done ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    I plan on using references for other things later on.
    :)
