I'm a returning player. Is Shaman a decent class?

I am a returning player from around 2017-2018, I used to play Mage. I don't remember much about the game, but I recently saw a video and apparently there is a new Shaman class.
I was wondering whether or not it is considered viable for group content. I don't want to pickup a class that I can't use during the endgame. Will people allow me to join raids and such if I use this class?

 

yeah, shaman's alright with crowd control and stuff, you just have to be really careful because shaman has the lowest defense and dies to practically everything ingame

 

Worth mentioning every class is also getting a major overhaul next month with the 2.0 update so I would check out the ability trees for each class in case you decide something else interests you. Also as of the time of writing this, Shaman's ability tree has not been officially released on beta so that one is currently incomplete:

I've been a shaman main from since it released.

Welp, it's a very fun class to play with, you'll hit hard, have passive healing with your totem and be able to make mobs move where you want.

However this class is even weaker than my will to live, gotta dodge everything or else you'll get steamrolled like a little mouse wandering on a construction site
