What is the best way to get skillpoints?

 

Level up. Wearing gear that increases them also helps, but it's only effective when it's being worn, so it limits your options to change. Skill points on crafted items, potions and weapons give the effects of skill points, but will not let you use or force you to take off any gear. That is, if you have a wand that gives a ton of strength, you can't wear armor that requires strength unless you have enough points to wear it without the wand, but it does increase your damage by that amount.
