How Does Life Steal Work Now?

I have a Vile bow with +70/2s Life Steal. I tried to hit some monsters with ranged attacks and some spells, and yet I receive no health back. Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: I just died from falling in lava and I tried hitting monsters to regain health. I got no health back. God dammit.

 

You receive health back over time, at least I think. Basically, you get the 70 health over 2 seconds. Bare in mind that 70 health isn't much, so you likely won't see your hearts changing at all. And I think multiple hits reset the timer too, though I'm not sure.

Isnt it broken at the moment tho?
Life and Mana steal stopped working after one of the updates a few weeks ago.
No ones been able to obtain any mana or life style since and I'm pretty sure it's still not working.

 

As RenHax said, yes it is broken. The only way to regen health is by inflicting poison and just kinda waiting for it to regen for you.
