How Do I Enter Eltom?

So level 85 and on my journey to get to Thesead I come check the map on the website to find I'd made my way to the valley next to Eltom.

I go up the wooden path thingy that winds across the mountain and to a cave where I am stopped by the message:
"You notice a villager exploring this cave. You shouldn't bother him"

That brings me to my question, is Eltom like Aldorei and I can only get to it after a certain point/a quest is done? Or am I going the wrong way into it?

Yes, you have to complete The Hidden City to gain access to Eltom.

 

Unless, of course, you had a scroll there from before the update.

 

It won't let you in.

I'm not an expert but I think you need to complete the hidden city

 

Using fishsticks and flyhacks.

Jk there should be a stairway somewhere

 

You can do a me and climb the cliff wall like a mountain goat to get there

But I was in Eltom when the update dropped... was fine.

 

I can confirm an Eltom scroll lets you in. I did it as an 86.

 

I was impressed with how complicated the issues are when you update a map and make an area restricted.
Since my mage used hang out there I could scroll there, but not of course any other of my classes, since you have to walk there to activate the ability to scroll, and none of them had.
I also respawned there when I died nearby (pretty sure).
It actually took me about nine days to realize Elton was restricted so that you had to do the quest to access the tunnels and stairs to walk there.
I was there after scrolling and another player walked by and I was "which quest are all these new NPCs for".
I think he thought I was the biggest idiot... How could I not know which quest they were for when I couldn't get there unless I was doing/did the quest?

 

Eltom was a nice go-to town before the update to sell items and use a bank. Now it's just a quest plot like Aldorei except they made it so I need to get off a horse and walk through the hole. xD

 

I wish eltom was removed from the map; it's not as hidden. It could be like, and uncharted area,

 

And the mini loot run disappeared when the chest areas got repurposed...

It would also be nice if there weren't four Villager Merchants in the hidden human town. They could use Dwarves or Elves or more Humans. It just breaks the story line as is.
