I know kind of a weird question, but I want to stop getting combat XP while I'm grinding gathering XP and crafting ingredients/materials. I want to do this because I don't want to get too far ahead in XP of my friends, but I have a lot more time to play then them. Is there any way to stop leveling up while killing mobs for ingredients? I've thought of just farming treasure off Selchar and buying the ingredients/materials off the market, does anyone know how effective that would be vs actually farming the ingredients/materials myself?

If you're a part of a Guild, set your Guild XP contribution to 100% (or anywhere between 90 to 99% if you still want to get some XP, albeit by a meager amount). Otherwise, there's no way to stop the combat XP inflow while killing mobs - the only exception is if you outlevel the mobs you are killing by 30-35 levels (give or take a couple of levels).
Seavale Reef is consistent cash, but it is sluggish. You'd be better off grinding mobs for Emeralds/Ingredients that sell and lootrunning.
Not saying you shouldn't farm Seavale, it will take a lot of time between each trip from there to Selchar - not to mention you needing Breathing Helmet I/II to make sure you can dive for longer.

Thats some really good info thanks for the quick reply! I think I'm going to go with the guild route as that does exactly what I'm looking for, thanks again!
