How Attack Speed Works

Does it affect your damage in any way, or is it just how fast you attack.

Also is there anything else that it affects?

It effects your damage in the way it boosts how fast you attack.
Let´s say you got a weapon with super slow attack speed and 800 damage each hit.

You´ll have a DPS of 0.5 x 800 = 400.
Not let´s say you got super fast attack speed.
you´ll have a DPS of 4 x 800 = 3200

So it really does effect your damage by alot.

It effects spells, as well. using the same multiplier we use for DPS.
imagining that same weapon, calculation let´s say...
a spin attack.

super slow:
800 x 0.5 x 2 = 800
(spin attack deal 200% damage, hence the times 2)

super fast:
800 x 4 x 2 = 6400

(I´m not calculating the added thunder damage, since that shiz follows some odd rules.)

BUT
The tier attack speed identification does NOT influence your spell damage.
so you can safely use a taurus on spell damage builds.

and using a cancer on a spell build means that your %spell damage is gonna get ripped, without getting that insane attack speed multiplier.
(I picked those items ´cuz they´re the best known tier attack speed items, no other tier attack speed items will effect spell damage. (unless they got %/raw spell damage on them as well, ´course.))

These are the attack speed intervals, btw.
4.0 for super fast,
3.3 for very fast,
2.6 for fast,
2.0 for normal,
1.3 for slow,
0.7 for very slow,
0.5 for super slow

 

So what youre saying is that attack speed ids dont affect spell damage but the ones already built into the weapons do affect it
