Mage/Dark Wizard Help

As a mage should I get a rainbow set? (by rainbow it means to have all of the elements on your armour pieces) because its usually for defence

 

meta builds are overused and unfunny

 

Personally I think elemental mage tanks are OP but wrong tag btw there is a specific tag for "Mage/Dark Wizard Help"

sooooooooo tank mage requires a few things...
MOST IMPORTANTLY lots of mana regen/steal. Now id recommend hive chestplate for the mana regen and tankyness to this build but thats up to you, other options for a tanky chestplate would be libra, whatever that 20 powder slot thing is and nii plate, all these plates give damage defense or mana. if you like more spell damage for the plate then probably aqua or stillwater

For a helm quartzite is nice for tank as its got 4 powder slots to counter - defenses and lots of spell damage and hp, another option for raw spell damage is whitecap crown. it would be good as its got melee damage buffs and lots of raw spell which this build may lack, personally id go quartzite but its your build :P. another option is nii helm or stardust for more tanky helms, both give very high defenses, stardust gives more mana and hp and sp but nii helm gives overall better defenses so again ill leave that to you

for leggings vaward i guess....well thats for more tanky build if you want another option would be trench scourer for the 3/4 mana steal. dark channeler is good for damage but the -defenses would id personaly say be a bad idea for this build. tophet is another idea if you are not using a water wand for mana as it gives some damage buffs and mana. lastly is sancs for whatever reason you want that in a tank build (i did it once...) its mainly for raw damage but you have to have high hp from the other armor.

for boots we got quite a bit of options. first off is probably the strongest option which is hive boots, they give about 200 raw spell and really add the tank to the build with the 4000hp and +275 in earth water and fire. another possablity is paradox, it basicly gives the same as gaea but well...worse mainly just use it if you dont have the master voucher. an intresting item i found when testing build is silt of the seafloor, its from hive water but it seems to be oddly tanky with reflection and water earth and fire defense. now reflection is something that is always op on mages which is why the next item is....VIRGO...yeah ik but really it the high reflection and thorns added with the mana regen could verymuch help this build out.

for rings uhhhhhhhh prisms? well prisms are best for tank if you use sancs though its not a good idea as thats -1300hp from both. if you want mana regen the best ring would be moon pool or raindrop (raindrop gives less -spell than concentration)

Bracelet and necklace i honestly cant think of much aside from Li hydro/fusion and royal stormy

for wand use bonder, infused hive or wishing star for neutral and for water use lament or requium (however spelled)
