Hello there! My nickname in-game is BalefireBlaze.
Love the vibe of this server in my 10h gameplay experience!

Any tips for new players? Is it good for co-op play? I mean, I'm going to invite my friend to play with me. How good is party here? Will we share loot/exp? Will we able to see skill effects of each other and have some kind of HUD with statuses for each other?
If not implemented in game, are there any QoL mods with UIs and/or quick skill casts on hotkey?

What are good duo combo for new players that will be viable later?

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Galaxias. I was previously stationed in the Silent Expanse but was relieved to come here.

Tips, you say? Well, now more than ever, try to stay away from the Roots of Corruption. We've been getting word of something huge there. That's not quite my area of expertise, but @TrapinchO could probably explain it. Also, explore caves you come across. They could have some really good loot inside.

Use either the Lunar Client modpack, or 1.20.2 fabric with wynntils and sodium.

 

1) co-op is fun
2) parties are good
3) you do get to share exp, though each of you need to deal at least 15% damage (iirc) to a boss to get its drop
4 yes, via scoreboard.

QoL mods: people are going to tell you to install wynntils (one person already has!). do not listen to them. at the very least, make sure you have a solid understanding of what is and is not part of the vanilla game before you do download it. the vanilla server already does some crazy stuff on its own, newer players not knowing where vanilla ends and the mods begin is a perennial issue.

Welcome, young warrior! How was your journey to Wynn, did you manage to rest? I know most recruits are quite nervous, or at least very confused. But don't worry, the life is simple over here. Kill corrupted, survive, sleep during the night, repeat. Because of the path you chose, you'll have to sadly walk everywhere, unlike us archers. You might be able to get a horse somewhere though, if your feet begin to hurt too much. I swear, those beasts aren't just fast, they're also fearless and sometimes downright brutal! My horse, Truhlík, once rode right in the middle of a large group of corrupteds that managed to surround me and kicked the Portal out of them! He even bit a head off of one! Never seen anything like it... Wait, where was I? Oh, right! Sorry, one gets often lost in memories when they have so much.

Anyways, yeah, if you can find some friends, do so! You can help each other tremendously. We have a saying that a bunch of true friends can break through a horde. And let me tell you, it isn't a saying, I was there when it happened. It was a glorious victory that day, though we're mostly glad we survived. A tip for the future: Under no circumstances decide to stay behind when an army retreats before a giant horde of undead. It was one of the worst days in my life. No... don't think about it. No.

PS: Personally, I would recommend going in without any "modifications", you need to create a good muscle memory and instincts if you want to survive here. If you need to know your friend's status, a good communication is key.

 

Speaking of archers, I've been learning to use a bow.

Finally decided to use the only right weapon.

There is no way a that fancy stick's "beams" can get further than an arrow. Neither am I sure what can you do with it you can't do with a bow.

 

I can summon spirits.

 

Is that a good think though.

 

Do you know how many times I've been saved by them?

 

Nope.
