-----The War of The Realms was talked about in the Aldorei questline, it provided lore about the War of the Realms. Taproot, Finding the Light, and the Realm of the Light all provided information about the War of The Realms and that the war was between Darkness and the Light Realms. Apparently, from the Aldorei questline, Elves are apart of the light and took every tip to happiness from the Light into consideration. Villagers are the Corruption.

-----My theory is about where the decay came from, the Aldorei questline say that the decay of Gavel started near when the greedy villagers uncovered the Roots of Corruption. What I think is that the Roots of Corruption are apart of the reason the War of The Realms began, when two opposites interact it ends with chaos. The chaos in this case was the Light Realms decay. The decay really came from Gavel, but what caused it came from Wynns Roots of Corruption. The Corruption and the Darkness Realm left different results to their respective provinces, the Darkness Realm started the decay that is still fighting Gavel, while Wynns situation with the Corruption is being handled very well after 1000-ish years of fighting.
