SPOILER Gavel Nether Portal?

Disclaimer: I was definitely not the first to discover this. Props to whoever did.
Warning: Do not try this unless you have lag on your side.

I was doing the Eye of the Storm quest and jumped into the Pit of Despair. Continuing the quest as normal, I made it to the room directly before the Naragath fight (where he has 1,000,000 health). After doing whatever that room required, I tried to escape to the next section. Instead, I escaped into an End Portal conveniently placed above the exit and went to the Nether.

So that's the story. Revisiting the Pit of Despair, I decided to record a video about it.


I tried relogging a couple of times, only to be spawned in the Nether immediately. I guess after a few tries my character fell below the portal which saved me.

But in all seriousness, that's pretty interesting.

 

The code that causes nether portal tiles to teleport you to the nether PVP dimension probably translates to all portal blocks. Still, nice job finding it!

The end portal is used as an invisible light source for the builders as it cannot be seen from below

You travel to the nether after entering the end portal due to the plugins of the server

This is confimed by a builder on another post. There are often many threads about being stuck in the nether by accidentally entering the end portal placed by builders. It's just the end portal you enter is conveniently locate in a suspicious location that makes people wonder but this is by no means any special than the others.

It would be kind to not make a big deal out of this

I'm saying that I know what that place is used for and I don't know if we're allowed to talk about it.

 

I'm going to leave a mystery here: there is a beautiful, large, cavern that is lit by the end portal method, that would be ruined if the builders had to change from using this system. So, let's leave these alone, and consider using them to be glitching. That's just my opinion, and it's why I've never said anything about finding these in the past. It may be that this one needs an invisible barrier above it in order to keep players from using it.
