Game crashes around Roots of Corruption when using Iris+Sodium

Using Iris+Sodium 1.21.4 only even with no shaders enabled, my game always crashes ("java.lang.NullPointerException: Unexpected error") when I'm near the Roots of Corruption and only there. This doesn't happen in vanilla 1.21.4. Any ideas how I can fix this besides switching to vanilla? Couldn't find anything about it on forums so it doesn't seem like a known issue. I can share a portion of a crash report if it will help. Ty

 

does it happen only in anni or other times

the only permanent thing there that could affect graphics is the nether portal block.
go to qira hive, there are nether portal blocks there, and see if it happens again is my advice

 

Seems like switching to Iris+Sodium 1.21.3 with same conditions has fixed the issue, so it was a problem with 1.21.4 installation specifically.

I'm only lvl 43 so can't check Qira Hive but thank you for help regardless

 

try using the same client and texture pack and building a nether portal, or when you get to level 80, try qira again, because if nether portals break the mod, you should report it
