Eye of the storm is literally the worst quest ever

This is how the quest goes:

*talk to the priest dude*
priest: hey dude so uh we're going through some hard times, some demon that absolutely nobody has heard of despite being the terror of the multiverse is taking my people.
*loud scream*
oh thats a guy go help him

*Help talos*
Talos: yo thx go talk to the priest dude again

*Talk to the priest*

priest: kek you saved him cool, here's your re- wait this is an elongated terrible lore quest, it cant end here!
go to the cult town and talk to the mayor for absolutely no reason except to get the terribly named summoning thing

mayor: uh hello so these people are killing my people so go look at the big hand up on my balcony that is a pain in the ass to get to

*after looking at hand*

mayor: k you saw it, now go talk to the sorcerer who i somehow know can stop this despite not having been outside the town since this began. instead of hopping the wall like you did the first time head through my basement.

*jumps down*

mayor: oh fuck i forgot to tell you, theres a terrible puzzle down there.. oh shit you already jumped down. k bye

*after 12 hours of the puzzle thing you reach the sorcerer man's house.

sorcerer: hey uh u trynna kill the big hand man? ok but 5 seconds ago the cult people stole my magic things. go to their random place and get my things back.

guardian: yo step one step closer and you gonna get whacked with a nail pipe cuh

*after killing the weak ass guardian man*


sorcerer: k cool let me do the spell.
sorcerer: *weird fucking language that makes no sense who even made this shit*
sorcerer: k you should be good from the unbeatable despair stuff, mister pokerface human who has beaten the embodiment of corruption in a sword fight. now go kill the hand man, oh and while youre at it find my mans who is secretly inside the pit

*pit lore*

*bullet hell and weird parkour*

sorcerer's friend: hey yo this hand man dude is tough af get some talismans from his flunkies
hand man: *generic omnipotent demon who will be killed in 4 minutes in a super weak boss fight dialouge*
sorcerer's friend: k thx now go kill the demon
hand man: *generic omnipotent demon dialouge about how that was his only weakness but will kill you either way*

*1 generic omnipotent demon fight that is very weak, glitchy, etc. and takes you 4 minutes even with bad gear*

sorcerer's friend: yo you killed him, and he dropped the summoning thing. here take it even though i just took it. also heres a random teleportation spell to bring you back to my friend.

sorcerer: yo thx lemme go hide this summoning thing, also take this terrible amulet that you will throw away once you reach cinfras.

*quest end*

I know that it's getting a revamp next update, but seriously, y'all saying its getting too much hate.... well heres this.

I still don't dislike the quest that much tbh, but that's mainly because I don't pay attention much to the story other than go stop magic bullshit

 

I liked the puzzle. It made me analyze the path I need to take to get the red square into the exit.

 

Take in the realization that these folk are literally across a 4 block river within seeing distance of the sorcerer's house just perched up in a treehouse

 

Eye of the storm isn't that bad as a standalone quest. When you look at it by itself, it is a really good quest and would fit into the game of wynncraft well, just not in wynn or gavel, as they already have sources of evil and adding another one is madness.

the quest is all over the place, it adds another of "kander-dark forest and swamp's infinite problems this time trying to be prominent" sort of thing. It is way too long, most of the quest is absolutely terrible from plot, lore, etc.

The amulet is terrible, Nagarath is another generic satan who tries to destroy the world but has 29 different weaknesses.

The start of the quest is trash. "Eye of Blood" is a terrible name for a demonic item that can summon a world-destroying denizen of another realm and keep him anchored to another world.

Also, selvut made a huge rant about it.

 

The quest is all over an area around Lexidale. I said it shouldn't be in gavel tho. The quest is a logical order of events from start to finish. The player discovers a problem, the player takes steps to fix the problem, the player fixes the problem.

The amulet is pretty good for poison and life steal, especially for it's level, and has only positive defenses. Naragath is a boss that would fit in a different, non-kander, context.

The start of the quest introduces the player to the problem, and starts them on the right track to fixing it (also, I thought you said the whole quest was trash, not just the start?). The "Eye of Blood" is a pretty generic name for a demonic item, helping to reinforce the player's view that they are combating evil.

I'm not a sheep.

True, but for most builds I’d rather use Contrast, Gigabyte, or a mana Regen amulet. Naragath is just lame, both in terms of context and gameplay. He might as well just be labeled “Generic Satan” and he’s never referenced and doesn’t do anything. It’s literally the only time we hear about him. There’s not even a gimmick to his boss fight, and his arena is as pathetic as the difficulty.

 

That’s literally the format of every story ever. That isn’t what makes the quest confusing. It’s these random bits like, “Why can’t we just kill these cultists and go through the front gate instead of some random hole?” “Why can’t we just go across the river and go that wizard’s house instead of going through a giant random hole underneath some guy’s house that has a puzzle for no reason?” or “Why a giant hand?” And it doesn’t even feel like we solved the problem or changed anything because the hand is still there, the forest is still shitty, and there are still cultists everywhere.

The beginning of the quest could have been cut out and nothing would have changed. The hostage doesn’t do anything later on in the quest, and all it does is hamfist the message that they are evil. Yeah, like we couldn’t tell that just by their name or that they were trying to attack us? I don’t really care about the name of the item since it’s just a mcguffin that does whatever the story needs it to do. I honestly forgot that it existed because that’s how little impact it actually has.

 

That's pretty much Wynncraft in a nutshell for you. Infinite clones of Key Guardians, able to go through the quest areas once more after completing them, going through dungeons multiple times AFTER we solved the problem presented in its corresponding quest, and bosses respawning after being killed. I wouldn't be surprised if the huge plot twist of Wynncraft is that we're inter-dimensional time travelers who were sent to this world to be punished by going through the whole game over and over.

 

Technically, yes since it’s an MMO. They have gotten better about it though in the last update. That’s also why I hate the Realm of Light because even after you defeat the seeds of corruption absolutely nothing changes.

Maybe though. We already have gone through time and different dimensions, so it wouldn’t take that much to do that :D

 

We go into the hole, because the we're not mean. If we were, we would walk out the front door, let the guy get killed because an outsider was clearly in his house, and kill the whole town of Lexdale. We shouldn't do that, because the person who sent us on our quest was a good friend of these people, and they have been misled by religion. We want to save the people of Lexdale, not destroy them.
The same reason applies for sneaking into the town in the first place.

The giant hand is explained as well: "Just look to the north, you see that giant hand? They summoned it. As if the decay wasn't bad enough already, that looks completely different, and even worse!"

The scenery doesn't change because time does not pass in Wynn until updates come. In the final discovery, historic Ragni is actually the Ragni that we used to play in, before it was revamped.
The next update should see the people of Lexdale changed, the hand limp, a new problem in the area. The forest is dank because of decay, not the summoners, as stated at the start of the quest.

All the decisions made by NPCs and the player in EOTS have legitimate, logical reasons behind them. The only illogical thing is the community's irrational hatred for the quest.

Every update, quests are revamped, or removed. A good example of a quest that got removed in the past because the community thought it was terrible is Lord of The Clock.

Neither does EOTS

 

eots definitely needs a massive rework though
or atleast connections to the outside world
