Hello,

I am a little confused between "Elemental Damage" and "Elemental Defence"... here's why...

In your character info, you have different skills tied to different elements (Strength = Earth; Defence = Fire; etc).

Lets take Earth (this is what I'm confused by), According to the character info, the strength skill will increase your earth damage but how can armour increase your earth defence if earth is tied with the strength skill and fire is tied with the defence skill? This is what I'm confused over.

If anyone can explain to me the whole element system or link to me to a very in-depth guide, that would be great.

The defense skill is for neutral damage, the elemental defenses only effect that specific element

 

Mobs are also doing elemental damage and you are protecting from it. (i hope i wrote this right)

 

Alright, just another question I'm a bit confused about - how do you "choose an element"?

 

You just level up the skill that corresponds to it, at the higher levels you end up focusing on 2-3
And as Salted our Bovine lord has said, the items fit your skill point usage, don't make your skill points fit the items

 

If you take earth damage, your earth defense will play in. Same with water, air, thunder and fire. If you take neutral damage, You DEFENSE will play in. Defense is fire but the amount of skill points in fire and your fire defense are completely seperate.

Alright, so I assume if I leave a certain skill completely empty (not adding any skill points to it), I won't be affected by that element?

 

Having a different amount of skill points doesnt change your elemental defense. If you had no water sp, that doesnt mean you would take more water damage compared to someone with 100 water sp.

Although, fire does overall reduce damage taken, but it doesnt directly affect fire elemental defense

The defense skill makes you resist a percentage of all damage according to how much you invest.

Elemental defense reduces or increases elemental damage you take by the exact amount listed by your armor and/or accessories. In the case of damage from players, the base weapon damage is cut before spell multipliers are added, so damage may be reduced more or less than what your armor lists when you are hit by spells.
