Elements And Skill Points

I recently (yes recently) got into builds and skill points. I know each skill increases damage, mana capacity, etc and that something like strength and dexterity are a bad mix. But what has been confusing are the elements.

I know that an element increases its damage and defense to a player, but does it have other perks.

For example, I use a skill point on agility, which is air. Do I also get perks like a walkspeed bonus but lower defense. Or is that a element characteristic in armor, accessories, and weapons. Sebs(or glitches, or hippies idk which one) said that an element has perks and weaknesses, I don't know if it involves the skills or the items or both

 

For the skill point alone, you do not. It only increases the chance of dodging attacks and increases damage output for said element. Some items, on the other hand, might give you a walk speed bonus and/or lower defense.
To answer your question, an element has perks and weaknesses only on some items (some items have all perks and no weaknesses).
