Dwelling Walls Help

Hi y'all, I'm trying to complete the Dwelling Walls quest but I can't seem to complete it?

It's stuck at the prompt "Talk to Leucsaa" even though I talked to him already, and he's asking me if I got the journal in the mansion. I've done the mansion many times but I can't pick up the journal either. I keep redoing the maze and talking to the guy but his dialogue doesn't change and I can't pick the journal up. I also closed and reopened Minecraft but nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

 

Have you tried hitting the book with your weapon and picking up the item that drops?
