Hey guys its me, FluxifiedGod1. now i may be new here but i have a pretty interesting theory..!

A while ago i did the quest "Taproot" WHICH I LOVED!... but the cut scene struck me as odd...
Not in a "this is creepy" way but as a "that's familiar" way. So here's the gist of the ending. A larvae like creature ruptures out of the ground in a spot covered by shadow from the trees around and PROBABLY the cult circle thing near it with the spikes protruding out of it, this creature brought the decay. Now i thought to myself. Isn't Qira a bug- like creature That lives in a hive/nest.. Now i'm Certain that a npc said she has the power to remove or destroy the decay, but chooses to stay in her hive creating. Now if nobody else can do this besides the creator of Wynn itself then how can Qira... Unless she had the power to create it in the first place! If she can create life then maybe she can create a dark force! She may feel guilty about killing and corrupting generations of creatures so she stays in the hive trying to bring this life back!... Anyways tell me what you think. Goodbye for now my friends

true.. but still i hope a later quest reveals more about the worm/larvae thing

She might not want to destroy her work though. plus the villagers and heroes are fighting the decay rather well.

I think that the Decay is caused by Darkness... a force which wants to spread and kill everything in its path. If Qira really was a being of Darkness then wouldn't she unleash her legions into Gavel instead of keeping them as a challenge for adventurers? Maybe she is building up creatures until she has an unstoppable force? But her creatures don't fit with our ideas of the darkness: hers are colorful elementals, while Dark beings are usually just... dark. I just don't think Qira fits with the mood of the darkness.

    Tl:dr
This theory is wrong, do more research please.

Interesting theory, but 100% false. The larvae-like creature is a part of the realm of light and dark story line. Tiek and taproot are a part of the realm of light. They say it in dialogue. They explain "the decline," aka the larvae, as the start of... well their decline. Light and dark have been at equal terms in battle, but 1000 years ago the decline arrived. The decline is when the balance was thrown off, darkness began taking over the light. Also 1000 years ago the nether portal opened. Is there a correlation? Most likely. Anyway, you as the player character play a big role in the war of light vs dark. Dark has gained an upper hand, but the player has been consulted by the light to fight for their side. And it should come as no surprise that this is the main story/quest line for Gavel and possibly Wynn as a whole.

My theory: miners opened up the nether portal. Dey dun fukd up cuz deh nether portal released the decline. Le decline fucked up gavel, gavel being the main power source for the peoples of light. Light is weakened and dark is winning duh war. And so player must kill decline, to stop dark, and put balance between light and dark

1000 years has some signifcance, every 1000 years a comet flies over Wynn. Cosmic Magic is something we no next to nothing about. Maybe the coment threw the balance off? Anyway the follow up update will explain a lot more.

What. What the fuck. That's just a cool description for millennium. It has no significance. The balance was thrown off because of the larvae. I'm assuming the larvae came from the nether portal.

How did the larvae come from the neather portal? It would have to travel across the ocean and over huge moutains and other stuff.

Good question. Okay, call me crazy, but here is my crazy explanation. You ready? Good. The people of realm of light say that their power derives from the good in the world. But they began losing that power, that came from Gavel. Gavel was once supposedly a pure and non-sinful land, according to the elves. the realm of light began losing their power in gavel, because there was a lot of sin, Tiek says this. Now what sin could've possibly caused all this chaos? You guessed it. It's greed. The villagers inhabit gavel and are inherently greedy creatures. But what caused them to be greedy? Well what else would it be? It's emeralds, and tell me, where do emeralds come from? That's right, it came from the nether portal. The emeralds that appeared a thousand years ago, infected Gavel with greed. This caused the realm of light to weaken. And since Gavel was filled with sin, the opposite happened. If good brings power to light, then what does the bad do? What does sin do? Well if good helps the light, then bad must help the dark. And the sin spawned darkness in Gavel. The decline. Well now that you all think I'm crazy, I'm going to hide in a corner and never theorize again.

I always thought that in the battle between dark and light, dark attacked the light with a powerful parasite. This is the worm thing that we see in taproot. But your explanation sounds better.

Another lore question. If the decay is also from the Nether portal in Wynn, why would the north side of Gavel be affected but the south side isn't? Is the Realm of Light keeping it back? Or is it coming from a source in that area? I thought the mansion in Memory Paranoia was built on the place the decay was originating.

I read your explanation, but it didn't address the Memory Paranoia quest that claims to be the location of the decay. .-. I think your explanation makes sense as to why it's increasing though.

The decline is a living and moving organism. It probably traveled to the location specified at memory paranoia. I believe in the cutscene where the larvae first spawned, it squirmed away.

that makes sense... i heard the decay is more of a state of mind which the villagers had which is greed. The greed could have manifested into the decline.. Just like the decline of the villager race. The decline of gavel came...

I personally think the elves and dwarves have something to do with the decay keeping at the south side
    ________________________________
i would say its more 74% incorrect (get it, 74 is the level min to start the quest the realm of light. nice joke adam. thanks other adam XD)
anyways, maybe the power of the larva faded after it created the dark and kander forests. so it retreated to regain its power which took hundreds of years. when it regained its power what if it saw what it did and is now creating an army (As mentioned above) of the elements to stop the decay.
and to tie in with your reply. i do think that the decay originated from the nether, or maybe dern, and used most of its power to rupture in the spot it did. Hence the erca mansion being overly corrupted and riddled with evil and insanity (because the npc says we were just standing inside after we did the quest, so all of the quest was a memory) And we came out of that insanity after killing the.. pope guy.. XD
Anyways this has to tie all together. i hope it will at least.

so is qira. qira is a living organism capable of creating life.
there has to be at least some type of tie between the decline and qira

No Qira is just another force in Gavel to be reckoned with. Yansur said she was preparing for a war, mistress Qira killed thousands of people. Qira is probably the toughest enemy in all of Wynncraft. And of all things she could've been doing, she was obsessed over a war. A war with dark, she knew the darkness was coming, so she began preparing. Qira understood the power and threat of the dark. Rather than healing the forest of decay, which was caused by the decline. She prepared for a war, because that is what is important. So basically I'm saying no, she feared the dark rather than have any connections with it.

So with all this information gathered, here's what to expect:
A great big fucking war even mistress Qira is pissing her pants over
