Craftsman tips?

I started a new craftsman save and it's been really fun so far! The start of the game has definitely gotten longer with all the resource gathering!! Although I am a bit confused on if there's anything more to the craftsman challenge? Are there any secret tricks to speed up progression at some point??? I might try wearing quest items if they can best my crafted armor, but that's all I can think of! : (
