    Whoa there what is this? Well I had made this game a while back, and deemed it really bad. But I had realized I had not put any of my work on the forums recently, so here this is!


    WHAT IS IT?
    Codex Tlamiz is a Arcade Wave Survival game, of the likes of Super Crate Box or Horde mode from literally any FPS game. The game takes place in Aztec folklore, more specifically the story of the Five Suns. You play as a nameless Aztec Priest, trying to survive the apocalypse(s). I do not expect anyone to beat it, as it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT.

    HOW TO PLAY?
    Arrow keys to move
    Mouse to aim
    Left click to shoot
    Hold right click to use sword


    ATTACKING COSTS ENERGY (Yellow bar)

    TRY NOT TO DIE (red bar)

    SURVIVE ALL THE WAVES IN A AREA TO MOVE ONTO THE NEXT!

    FEATURES:

    - 13 different enemies!

    - 4 insanely hard levels!

    - 1 devilishly handsome game developer!

    - 2 horrible boss battles!

    - 3 game breaking bugs!

    DISCLAIMER: This game is not well balanced, and has quite a few bugs. I will probably not update it any further, (as I am working on another project) but if there are any really bad glitches please tell me.

    My downfall is when the orange guys spawn on the top... and the birds.

    you have not seen anything. The learning curve for this game is very intense.

    Wave 6 level 1, yes.
    I played it for a total of 30 minutes or something.

    Well this is telling me something about the difficulty level of my game. maybe I should add different difficulties where you have more health and energy?

    The only issue is that the orange guys who spawn on top can walk on the crates.
    Standing on the crates make you invincible to the snakes and most orange guys.
    Are they even crates? xD

    They were originally going to be barriers for lava that would periodically fill up there and would spawn blaze-like creatures, but I eventually scrapped that. I kept the blocks there to give a camping spot for new players. The other levels increasingly give you nowhere to hide >:)

    Also coding question, for the buttons, did you use the button library class or just overlaid a picture and detected mouse clicks. I'm doing a pause menu and I'm not sure which way I should do.

    actually the buttons are objects of their own. It makes the game run slightly slower, but is quicker to code and gives me more functionality.

    Hmm interesting, throwing wild guesses out here, but I'm guessing there's a picture field for the button itself, dimensions, and location. How do you deal with button clicks from within a class? From my limited knowledge, you need an actionlistener and I'm not sure how that works within a class that doesn't act as the main. Would multiple buttons clash?

    Except this is written in GML, which does not use classes (most of the time). I am not certain of the inner workings of GML, but there is technically no "main", just a bunch of "classes" (called objects)

    the first google search for gml was Geographical Markup Language and I got really confused.
    I'm gonna look into GameMaker some more

    It is really cool as you can use multiple kinds of syntax for it. Like C# Java hybrid

    I'll definitely try it out over the summer! For now, I don't think my java teacher would appreciate it if I didn't use java. :P
