    Four Questions:
    1) Does it work and if so how?
    2) Does it improve in stages, or is it more of a gradient?
    3) Is there a cap as to how much the chest can improve (aside from storage space, duh)?
    4) Is there a way to check how long a chest has been in existence for, and if not why?

It depends on tier, player level, or mob level, not time.

You sure? I'm having a lot of people say it's true, even the wiki itself. https://wiki.wynncraft.com/index.php?title=Loot#Loot_Chests

According to the wiki (which isn't an official source, sadly), all it says is "When loot chests are left untouched for longer amounts of time, the better the loot will be." This could just mean there's more of it. You'd have to PM a mod or something for a proper answer.

1)To answer your first question, through personal experience I was able to conclude that leaving chests alone does indeed improve loot/contents. As for how it works, I believe chests gain certain items every minute or something like that. Using this logic, you can conclude that if it is left alone longer, that it will have a longer time to expand its collection and contents.
2)As for your second question, I believe that the time in which they gain and expand their collection becomes faster/slower depending on the chest tier. For example, you could conclude that tier 4 chests gain items faster than tier 1 chests.
3)That question cannot be answered, as no one has ever left a loot chest that undiscovered. Maybe, in theory, it could happen, but that is not a question we are able to answer.
4)On question number 4, there are at least no DISCOVERED ways to check a chest's time of existence.
Note that I am not part of the Wynn Staff so my information isn't going to be 100% accurate. I would suggest just using my information as a slight reference. ;)
I hoped this helped you CraftedAfro9000!
