Boulder And Gravel

While I was leveling professions, I got this message:

What are boulder and gravel? I'd assume that boulder is for that one secret discovery, but what is gravel?

 

I figured it out. You need it for the revamped Rise of the Quartron quest

You dig gravel and get access to an iron mining area that gives you +50% gathering xp while in there
