    I was doing some wandering around the Kander forest (as you'll know from my other post), and I decided to get the Challenge of the Blades' discovery. For the fun of it, I looked for the hint on the junk item, even though I could probably find it online.

    Why would Blade (or is it Shade?), being a (probably, "shadow realm") Dernic resident, want to set up snares to hunt werewolves?

    because werewolves are actually villagers with a fursuit and furries are fucking disgusting

    nonono, what happened was the Blade of Shade put the hint up there so that only adventurers powerful enough to fulfill the requirements could enter the realm, expecting some sort of treasure. This ensures the Shade fights difficult opponents, which are much more fun for it to kill.
