Best class for a challenge playthrough.

I've been considering doing a "Merchant Items Only" challenge for a while now and I find myself debating what the best class to try it on would be.

The rules are simple, if i can't buy it from an NPC Merchant, I can't use it. Ultimate goal would be to complete all quests as close to at-level as possible (no cheesing by vastly overleveling)

Currently leaning toward Mage (Lightbender) or Warrior (Paladin) as they're the 2 "tankiest" and I will no doubt have some issues at some points with subpar gear.

 

if you want a true challenge, try using assassin for it

 

Really depends on how difficult you want this challenge to be. Warrior and Mage will likely give you the easiest time due to Mantle of the Bovemist and Heal, respectively. Additionally, Generalist would make spell spam a lot more efficient since most merchant items will likely have you coping with high spell costs

 

I would say you should try out all classes and use the one that is the hardest for you to use and to level.

 

i feel like shaman would be best but if you dont want to cheese in any way (uproot through walls, dropping totem with summoner then running away) id say mage because healing is better than "staying alive"

 

shaman or assassin would be the hardest imo

 

So, this will be my 1st ever challenge run and, while I do want a challenge, I want to make it easier on myself.

Warrior is where I am currently leaning, as that is the class I'm the most experienced with.

I'm gonna contemplate it for a few more days and then make my mind up.

 

I tested a bit of stuff out ingame by now and I would say if you want a hard challenge you should choose mage or shaman
