Those who are in discord may have noticed me recreating the baby Orphion pet model in Blockbench, and tweaking it. I have spent somewhere around~58 hours reconstructing the pets model, both as a means to try and to learn Blockbench, and tweaking it to my personal satisfaction. [trying to make it even cuter and a bit less of a tablet headed] [all personal preference]

If you have any feedback on things you think I should tweak let me know in the comments.

In the process of tweaking it I used the replay mod to get better views in-game models and textures for both the boss and pet. I also got the textures from the resource pack, and reconstructed the model from the tiny pieces, as the models in-game are several entities.

I will first show some screenshots of my initial model reassembly attempt using the texturepack and block pieces in the texture pack. Took about 7-10 hours to reach this point, as I was learning how to use basically block bench features and following some tutorials. [I do have some previous blockbench experience]
    [IMG][IMG]

From here I focused on trying to improve my head and proportions. The model I first focused on the nose and shape of the head, making it from 9:10 pixels to 9:9 pixels and rounded the top of the head. I also made the nose 2 pixels long, the existing version is 1 and looks rather flat. Only took 3 hours in total.

From here I spent several attempts and received feedback and over 16 hours, trying to improve its ears. [lost track of the time spent on it] I also got distracted at many points and fixed the legs so they were more accurate. [was probably the longest part but also the part I learned the most through experimentation] I also perfected the face during this time.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Until narrowing down to my final version… After trying all sorts of angles and shapes. [all tweaks are lost image wise… [as I spent time focused on tweaking its angles and proportions until it felt right.]

From here I focused a tiny bit getting the face’s spiral about right so I could stop having ocd, with it… and having them disabled. I also focused on adjusting the horns and getting their proportions more accurate, as there position became offcentered due to my adjustments to the head. This was my primary focus due to them being in the way with the ears… This took like 6 hours, due to me using the crap of the replay mod to get accurate proportions…] [not the most hellish part, that comes next]

After this I got a bit distracted by a few things, including school, baby Orphion fanart, and 2 mistakes relating to wynncraft… One where I was being irrational and stupid in the item makers thread, ranting about how relic armor should be made tradable.. [so I could date my obsession to buy an enchanted relic set]... These 2 things together significantly demotivated me, and my ability to make progress… So I stopped around here…
Stopping midway in the hardest section… Which was trying to add the side spiral.. From the adult version. This based on screenshots, took like 3 hours… I was also suffering burnout around ~ 32+ hours in.
Then after a week break where I was able to be home during spring break I looked upon the real-life Baby Orphion plushie, where I realized the full spiral was there. So after having a week to recharge from both burnout and school, as a means to unload from the stress from school I decided to return to my attempts. I decided to recreate it from scratch by first rescaling the existing version to a scale I thought would fit. From here I spent several hours on the replay mod trying to get more accurate pictures and references.

Before tackling the hard spiral once again I decided to try and perfect the face symbol, since the angles were uniform. [I also had all the exact pieces and shapes from the files. [took 1-2 hours or so…]

From here I focused on making the spiral as accurate as possible which was hell… I spent over 8 hours micromanaging every angle… even then it's still imperfect… as I only used 2.5 degree increments. And single single one I had to estimate, I no longer have pictures of the development stage of it… but it was hell… I basically made shortened versions of them, ignoring the ends, and used the vertex snap tool. Before extending the sections so they fit. [also texturing was a nightmare since I had no reference besides Orphions textures… so I readjusted the spiral parts so they were organized for my own ease of use.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
Also yes I’m aware part of the spiral is off… At Least the world I raided in and reviewed in the replay mode, had that error… well it's not an error in the editor apparently. ALSO WOULD have been nice knowing it was also used in the annie chest texture… [well fixed now that I remembered this… time to quickly spend 3 min fixing the mistake.] [also it's mirrored on both sides with a common point of reference, so I only flipped it… I didn't want to be so meticulous again.

Now you can't unsee your welcome!

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

After this I asked for feedback and someone recommended I raise the spiral, so I adjusted both the height and angle and I agree it looks better, since it doesn't overlap the eyes now. Also fixed a slight error [one was 0.25 degrees for some reason] with the ears and moved the horns a tiny bit closer to the center of the head.
At this point I was about 45 hours in.

From here I decided to try and animate the ears a bit. Not perfect but the animations in the game aren't either… Also it's my first animation experience so it took me a while… And I had to fix so many pivot points… A nightmare… tbh… Wish I knew how to move pivot points without moving positions and angles of things… [It's for that reason I'm unable to perfect the ear movement, as the pivot point is in the slightly wrong spot… but I only know how to move it in full number positions without moving the objects… So this took like 6+ hours… good to know you can use sin functions for repeated animations… wasted like 2 hours trying to do it manually… [at least I know how to animate manually… but not super helpful until I can micromanage pivot points….] [sorry for the rant]

Once I finished this around 51 hours In i decided to take a break and ask for feedback… And the tail came up… So I spent a few hours over about a day asking for tips, and techniques. I’m sadly not good at textures so i spent a while trying to figure it out, But asking around did help me as I learned about the inflate function, and the trick to slightly overlay it to give depth, and for this purpose its best to simply have sporadic fragments of the underlying textures, to keep the same pattern but give it depth. Also finally decided to tweak the tail so it was accurate, since I had been ignoring it until this point. This took about 6 hours in total
Without vs with… The goal was to make it feel slightly more fluffy.

    [IMG][IMG]

Look at the texture monstrosity… Yeah this part can be refined a lot…
    [IMG]

Lastly I spent about 40 minutes trying to add a cap to the tail. [maybe its a bad idea or simply needs more refinement]

    [IMG][IMG]

After 57/58 hours before vs after [the one on the left, is the screenshot posted in the discord chat… Also now looking at it… I realize I accidently changed the cheek pixel colors… I think I made a mistake… when I was redoing the nose texture section.

All credits go to Wynncraft, the textures and proportions/blocks come from the resource pack.

Also thanks to Purple Emerald for their tips [replay mod], and the feedback. Massive thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on the discord servers.

Also no, even if you ask I won't share the Blockbench files with anyone but staff on the server, if they so request it. This is for many many reasons including the assets belonging to Wynncraft, not myself. Bringing this up since someone asked me for them already but won't say who.

To the staff on the server, I started this knowing the odds were basically 0 that my tweaks would ever make it in-game. But it was both a great learning experience for me, allowing me to learn how to fully use blockbench, and I wanted to simply share my love for the pet.

[I would love my tweaks to be added, and would be willing to give up all rights related to my tweaks and modifications.] [but I know of the policy of not accepting community models, simply thought I would mention this]

Only now that I’m finished do I realize this is 14 pages in google docs and took 4 hours…
Also I am one of the biggest baby Orphion fans, So I’m going to post some more pictures….

Small update, While looking at the plushie I realized the pets horns were incorrect so I tweaked them to match more accurately and be a blend of both the plushie, and Adult boss model. Took 3 more hours so I'm not at like 62...
